Meet The Team

Rowan Frayling

A smiling man with glasses, beard, and short dark hair, wearing a light blue button-up shirt, standing in a modern office with a blurred background of desks and computers.

I’m Rowan, Managing Director of J Finance. As well as overseeing the day-to-day running of the company, I still love working directly with clients. My main areas of focus are Mortgages and Equity Release – the latter being my specialism. I’m passionate about Later Life Lending, because there are so many options available for people looking to use their home as part of their financial planning. Even if some lenders won’t help in your 60s or 70s, there are still plenty who will.

I first joined J Finance in 2016, after five years working with Nationwide Building Society. In 2023, I became Managing Director, taking over from Jonathan Bright, to whom I am enternally grateful for hiring me in the first place, and supporting me in succeeding him. I’m really excited about the future of the firm and how we’ll continue to grow.

When people come to me for advice, it’s not just about the CeMAP and CeRER qualifications (which every adviser in this space holds). It’s about the knowledge and insight I’ve built up over the years, and the ‘behind the scenes’ understanding I have of how banks and building societies really work. With that experience – and plenty of useful tools at my fingertips – I can usually find the right solution quickly, saving clients the stress of navigating the mortgage market on their own. Too often, people stick with their current lender out of habit, but loyalty doesn’t always equal value. My job is to make sure your financial plan works for you – both now and in the years ahead.

Outside of work, I love my cars and my photography, and I have a ‘side hustle’ as an automotive photographer. I own a classic Porsche and also a campervan and love taking either out for a coffee or a longer camp-out. Family is everything to me – my fiancée Becky, my two sons, as well as the furry family members all keep me busy (and sometimes keep me on my toes!) and they are the reason I do what I do!
