Meet The Team - Jonathan Bright
Q: What is your role at J Finance Ltd?
A: I am a Mortgage, Protection & Equity Release Adviser at J Finance. I am also the Compliance Manager , so I work with clients as well as within the business. I am also responsible for ensuring that the company continues to meet its regulatory and compliance responsibilities.
Q: How long have you worked at J Finance?
A: I set the business up in 2002 and sold it to Rowan Frayling in 2023, but I continue to work and advise in the business.
Q: Why should someone listen to your advice?
A: I have been a financial adviser for over thirty years and so have extensive experience and knowledge about personal finance. I have advised thousands of clients during my career, which would make you think that I have seen every possible financial situation, but it is true that everyone is different and therefore I still need to get to know every client to be able to give them the best advice for them. I am committed to updating my knowledge and regularly attend training seminars and conferences.
Q: What do you like best about working with J Finance?
A: I love the variety of my job; I enjoy working with clients and helping them achieve their goals, and the staff in J Finance who are hardworking and a really loyal team. I also have a passion for just playing with numbers – mad but true! The other thing that makes my role interesting is catching up with clients that I have helped in the past, finding out about how their lives, their famililies and their jobs have progressed.
Q: Describe your typical day.
A: No two days are ever the same, and that keeps things interesting, but I try to answer emails first thing. I might then have meetings with clients, or meetings with others in the industry. Client meetings may be with new clients, existing clients wishing to change their situation or existing clients who just want to confirm that they are still on the right path.
Q: What makes you happy?
A: My wife and my family as well as travelling. Spending time with our 3 children and their partners is always fun.
Q: What do you like to do at the weekend?
A: I love to get out on my mountain bike or take our dogs for a walk in the beautiful Chiltern countryside where we live. It’s a bit of a cliché, but I really enjoy travelling too. Not only to visit different places, but to meet different people. Some of the best times of my life have been spent through chance meetings with people over a glass of local wine.
Q: Where was your last holiday?
A: My last major holiday was spent visiting Iceland with my wife. It is a magnificent and beautiful country. We walked the Laugavegur trail across the Icelandic highlands for five days. It was a truly amazing experience and we met so many interesting people from Iceland and across the world. We then drove around the whole country finding out about the way that the country has evolved since it was first populated. Our next trip will be somewhere warmer.
