This month the spotlight is on Daniel Tillson…
Q: What is your role at J Finance Ltd?
A: I am a mortgage and protection specialist – that means I help clients through their journey of buying their first, second or 20th house. I always take a holistic approach to home buying and try to ensure that the process of buying a house is as simple as possible.
Q: How long have you worked at J Finance?
A: I joined J Finance in September 2016, having previously worked as a new build mortgage specialist as well as for two high streets banks in the past.
Q: Why should someone listen to your advice?
A: With 12 years’ mortgage experience as well as specialising in new build properties and high net worth clients, I believe in providing a first class mortgage service by looking after my clients long-term and helping every step of the way, which is why I offer end-to-end support. With access to the whole of the market and exclusive products, I can help find the best product for my clients which may save money or give them extra security and often find options that may not have been considered.
Q: What do you like best about working with J Finance?
A: The support that I receive from them ensures that I can always put my clients first and offer the right solution to them. It also means that the administration team are available to help support my clients as well.
Q: Describe your typical day
A: Every day is very different, and I tailor my approach to meet my clients’ needs. Normally I start work at 9am after walking my dog. My day will include lots of calls and meetings with clients, paperwork, research and behind the scenes mortgage sourcing, I may speak with estate agents and solicitors too. I also do a lot of local networking which has helped me build relationships with companies who can sometimes assist my clients – such as solicitors or estate agents.
Q: What inspires you?
A: To grow my business by having happy clients. There are few things better than hearing from someone who is now living in their dream home with their family because of the work I did. Sometimes this is even more special when they had thought they couldn’t move.
Q: What do you like to do at the weekend?
A: I love to travel and have visited many places all over the world. I am also a dedicated member of Basingstoke Round Table, which is national organisation that arranges social activities like go-karting, archery and kayaking. At Christmas time, we have a Santa sleigh that goes around town raising money for local charities. We normally raise about £6,000 a year and all the children love coming to meet Santa too!
I love the outdoors and enjoy walking the dog around the countryside, obstacle races (like tough mudder) and enjoy going to the gym.
Q: What is the one thing in your life that you could not do without?
A: This would have to be my dog Lexi, she is the best company and drags me away from the office for walkies every day!
